After 9 years sales in labour recruitment dropped

In Q3 seasonally adjusted sales in market services increased by 1.0%, q-o-q, at constant prices. In the year-on-year comparison, not seasonally adjusted, they increased by 3.0%. Only 'other service activities' as the only one among all observed divisions recorded a moderate decrease, y-o-y (-0.2%).

In Q3 seasonally adjusted sales in market services 1) increased by 1.0% quarter-on-quarter, at constant prices . The trend component grew by 0.8 %.

Year-on-year, sales grew in Q3 2008 by 3.0%. Working days adjusted (four working days more than in Q3 2007) sales grew by 2.3% at constant prices and seasonally adjusted (incl. working day adjustment) they increased by 2.4%,
The most important sections in terms of volume, i.e. other business activities, recorded a 2.4% increase, contributing by 1.9 p.p. to the total growth. Sales in computer and related activities increased by 6.3% while other service activities posted a moderate drop by 0.2%.
Year-on-year development of not seasonally adjusted sales in market services broken down by CZ-NACE divisions:
- sales in computer and related activities increased by 6.3%, y-o-y, owing to sales growth in processing and database activities (+14.8%) and hardware and software consultancy and supply (+ 7.2%), which was the most important section in terms of volume. A drop was recorded like in the previous quarter only for maintenance and repair of office and computing machinery (-6.7%);
- in other business activities a 2.4% sales increase was recorded, year-on-year. Sales drop was recorded only in labour recruitment and provision of personnel (-2.5%), y-o-y, coming from a decreasing demand for agency workers especially in some branches of industry. The growth was most contributed to by architectural and engineering activities (+3.0%) and legal, accounting activities and tax consultancy (+2.2%). Continuing demand for industrial cleaning and for investigation and security activities showed an upward trend (growth by 8.2% and 6.0%, respectively). Total growth was contributed to also by growth in advertising (+1.6%) and in the group of activities identified as miscellaneous business activities including e.g. photographic, packaging, translation activities, holding of exhibitions, etc. (+0.6%).
- sales in other service activities recorded a 0.2% drop, y-o-y, which came mainly from sales decrease in section more significant in terms of volume i.e. hairdressing and other beauty treatment and funeral activities (-0.8%). Sales in washing and dry-cleaning of textile and fur products increased by 1.0%, y-o-y.

2) The whole time series is seasonally adjusted every quarter; indices in the graph are changes retroactively.
