In Q1 seasonally adjusted sales in market services increased by 2.3%, q-o-q, at constant prices. In the year-on-year comparison, not seasonally adjusted they increased by 8.6%. All observed divisions recorded an increase, y-o-y; the fastest growth was reported for sales in other business activities (+ 9.4 %).

In Q1 seasonally adjusted sales in market services 1) increased by 2.3% quarter-on-quarter, at constant prices . The trend component grew by 1.7 %.

Year-on-year, sales grew in Q1 2008 by 8.6% which was the highest growth since 2000. Working day adjusted sales grew by 9.2% (one working day less than in Q1 2007), seasonally adjusted sales increased by 8.7%. The most important sections in terms of volume, i.e. other business activities, recorded a 9.4% growth, y-o-y, contributing by 7.3 p.p. to the total increase. Sales in computer and related activities increased by 6.2%. Other service activities posted a 4.2% increase which was the biggest growth for the last eleven years.
Year-on-year development of not seasonally adjusted sales in market services broken down by CZ-NACE divisions:
- sales in computer and related activities increased by 6.2%, y-o-y, which was most contributed to by data processing and database activities (+17.0%), hardware and software consultancy and supply (+ 6.1%). A drop was recorded only for maintenance and repair of office and computing machinery (-2.2%);
- in other business activities where sales increased by 9.4%, year-on-year, all observed groups of activities recorded the growth of sales. A double digit growth of sales was registered, like in the previous quarter, in labour recruitment and provision of personnel (+17.2%) and in architectural and engineering activities (+16.5%). Also investigation and security activities contributed by a 10.4% growth. Sales in legal, accounting activities and tax consultancy increased by 8.4%, y-o-y. Demand for industrial cleaning continued to grow (+7.6%). In the group of activities identified as miscellaneous business activities including e.g. photographic, packaging, translation activities, holding of exhibitions, etc. a 8.1% growth was recorded. The slowest growth of sales (+3.8%) was reported for advertising;
- sales in other service activities grew by 4.2% and was contributed to by section more significant in terms of volume i.e. hairdressing and other beauty treatment and funeral activities (+4.7%) as well as by washing and dry-cleaning of textile and fur products (+3.3%).
Methodological note :
1) For the purpose of New Releases, market services include the following CZ-NACE categories – computer and related activities and other business activities and other service activities..
2) The whole time series is seasonally adjusted every quarter; indices in the graph are changes retroactively.
