Beginning from May the CZSO modified the order of assessed industries in compliance with the users´ requirements. In the first place CZ-NACE 45 + 47, i.e. “Wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles” (CZ-NACE 45) and “Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles” (CZ-NACE 47) are assessed. CZ-NACE 47 includes also retail trade of automotive fuel (CZ-NACE 47.3). To make it clearer, these two industries will be assessed together under the name retail trade incl. automotive segment (CZ-NACE 45+47). Next will be assessed CZ NACE 45, marked as sale and repair of motor vehicles and, finally, CZ-NACE 47, marked as retail trade incl. sale of automotive fuel. Comparable data for EU27, which can be found at the end of the News Releases, are available only for NACE 47.

With seasonal, calendar and working day adjustment sales in retail trade incl. automotive segment dropped in May, m-o-m, by 2.1%, at constant prices, and by 5.3%, y-o-y. Seasonally non-adjusted sales decreased by 7.5%, in the year-on-year comparison, which was also partly due to a lower number of working days (-1 working day) in 2009 compared to 2008. The biggest contribution to the y-o-y drop came from the sale of motor vehicles (incl. spare parts) and sale of non-food goods (see table 2), however, sales dropped in all surveyed retail trade product groups.
