Month-on-Month Prices of Electricity Significantly Increased

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices decreased by 0.3% (after exchange rate adjustment increased by 0.4%). The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘products of agriculture, hunting and related services’, ‘chemicals and chemical products’, and in ‘furniture’, by 2.4%, 1.7% and 1.4%, respectively. Significantly, prices of ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ increased by 10.1% and the prices increased in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’ by 1.9 %.
In year-on-year comparison, export prices decreased by 2.7% (after exchange rate adjustment increased by 0.2%). Significantly, prices decreased in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, ‘chemicals and chemical products’ and ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, by 13.8%, 7.5% and 7.0%, respectively. The biggest increase was recorded in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’, by 11.2% and the prices increased in ‘wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture’ by 6.3%.
Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices decreased by 0.5% (after exchange rate adjustment stayed the same). The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’, ‘paper and paper products’ and in ‘other transport equipment’ by 3.4%, 1.6% and 1.2%, respectively. The prices significantly increased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ by 17.3%.
In year-on-year comparison, import prices decreased by 3.3% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.4%). The prices decreased significantly in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’, ’wearing apparel’ and in ‘basic metals’, by 18.1%, 7.1% and 6.7%, respectively. The prices increased in ‘food products’ and in ‘furniture’, by 3.0% and 2.8%, respectively.
“In September the prices of export and import were again significantly influenced by strengthening of the exchange rate of Czech Koruna to Euro and US Dollar. Month-on-month export prices decreased by 0.3% and import prices decreased by 0.5%, even though the prices of electricity in export and import significantly increased, month-on-month. Year-on-year export prices decreased by 2.7% and import prices decreased by 3.3%”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.
The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.3% (99.7% in August). Significant positive value reached especially ‘computer, electronic and optical products’ (101.0%) and negative value reached ‘electricity’ (93.9%).
In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.6% (100.4% in August). Significant positive value reached ‘wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (108.9%) and negative value reached ‘furniture’ (93.6%).
