Export and Import Prices of Electricity Significantly Decreased

In August 2025, export prices decreased month-on-month by 0.9%, in year-on-year comparison decreased by 2.9%. Import prices decreased month-on-month by 0.6%, year-on-year decreased by 3.3%. The terms of trade reached month-on-month the value of 99.7%, year-on-year 100.4%.

Export prices
In month-on-month
comparison, export prices decreased by 0.9% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.6%). Significantly, prices decreased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’ and in ‘products of agriculture, hunting and related services’, by 9.0%, 3.1% and 2.3%, respectively. The prices increased in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’ and in ‘products of wood and cork, except furniture’, by 0.8% and 0.7%, respectively.

In year-on-year comparison, export prices decreased by 2.9% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.4%). Significantly, prices decreased in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ and in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, by 16.4%, 15.9% and 14.5%, respectively. Significantly, prices increased in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’ and in ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’, by 9.2% and 5.9%, respectively.

Import prices
In month-on-month
comparison, import prices decreased by 0.6% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.4%). The prices decreased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘wearing apparel’ by 12.5%, 4.5% and 1.8%, respectively. The prices increased in ‘leather and related products’ by 1.7%.

In year-on-year comparison, import prices decreased by 3.3% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.7%). The prices decreased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’,’ crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, by 19.9%, 17.9% and 13.3%, respectively. The prices increased significantly in ‘furniture’ and in ‘food products’, by 7.1% and 5.8%, respectively.

“In August the prices of export and import were significantly influenced by strengthening of the exchange rate of Czech Koruna to Euro and US Dollar. Month-on-month export prices decreased by 0.9% and import prices decreased by 0.6%. Year-on-year export prices decreased by 2.9% and import prices decreased by 3.3%. In export and in import, the prices of electricity significantly decreased”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.

The terms of trade
In month-on-month
comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 99.7% (100% in July). Significant negative value reached especially ‘fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment’ (98.3%) and positive value reached ‘electricity’ (104.1%).

In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.4% (100.6% in July). Significant positive value reached ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (108.0%) and negative value reached ‘furniture’ (89.0%).
