Export and Import Prices of Electricity Significantly Increased

In November 2024 export prices increased month-on-month by 0.9%, in year-on-year comparison increased by 4.5%. Import prices increased month-on-month by 0.8%, year-on-year increased by 2.4%. The terms of trade reached month-on-month the value of 100.1%, year-on-year 102.0%.

Export prices
In month-on-month
comparison, export prices increased by 0.9% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.7%). The biggest increase was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘furniture’ and in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, by 24.0%, 2.3% and 2.0%, respectively. The prices decreased significantly in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’ and in ‘other non-metallic mineral products’, by 3.8% and 0.6%, respectively.

In year-on-year comparison, export prices increased by 4.5% (after exchange rate adjustment by 1.5%). The biggest increase was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’ and in ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’, by 28.5%, 10.9% and 10.5%, respectively. Significantly, prices decreased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘other non-metallic mineral products’, by 13.0% and 1.0%, respectively.

Import prices
In month-on-month
comparison, import prices increased by 0.8% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.4%). The prices increased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘wearing apparel’, by 18.2%, 3.6% and 2.6%, respectively. The prices decreased in ‘basic metals’ by 0.5%.

In year-on-year comparison, import prices increased by 2.4% (after exchange rate adjustment decreased by 0.2%). The prices increased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘food products’ and in ‘textiles’, by 12.4%, 11.0% and 5.9%, respectively. Significantly decreased prices in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘leather and related products’ and in ‘other transport equipment’, by 15.1%, 5.8% and 2.7%, respectively.

“In November the prices of international trade in goods were affected by weakening of the exchange rate of Czech Koruna to Euro and US Dollar. The month-on-month export prices increased by 0.9% and import prices increased by 0.8%. In year-on-year comparison export prices increased by 4.5% and import prices increased by 2.4%. A significant month-on-month and year-on-year increase was recorded in the prices of electricity”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.

The terms of trade
In month-on-month
comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.1% (99.9% in October). Significant positive value reached ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (104.9%) and negative value reached ‘basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations’ (98.3%).

In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 102.0% (102.4% in October). Significant positive value reached ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (114.3%) and negative value reached ‘food products’ (94.0%).
