Year-on-Year Export and Import Prices Increased

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices increased by 0.2% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.5%). The prices increased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’ and in ‘products of agriculture, hunting and related services’, by 3.4%, 2.5% and 1.7%, respectively. Significantly, prices decreased in ‘electrical equipment’ and in ‘textiles’, by 1.4% and 1.3%, respectively
In year-on-year comparison, export prices increased by 2.1% (after exchange rate adjustment by 2.1%). Significantly, prices increased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘products of agriculture, hunting and related services’ and in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’, by 53.2%, 13.1% and 6.2%, respectively. Significantly, prices decreased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, by 12.1% and 8.7%, respectively
Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices decreased by 0.3% (after exchange rate adjustment the prices stayed the same). The prices decreased significantly in ‘basic metals’ and in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, both by 1.7%, and in ‘textiles’, by 1.6%. The prices increased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ and in in ‘paper and paper products’, by 9.9% and 1.2%, respectively.
In year-on-year comparison, import prices increased by 2.2% (after exchange rate adjustment by 2.1%). The prices increased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘food products’, by 62.7%, 13.6% and 7.9%, respectively. The prices decreased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘other transport equipment’, by 11.3% and 3.0%, respectively.
“In February the year-on-year export prices increased by 2.1% and import prices increased by 2.2%. A significant year-on-year increase was recorded in the prices of electricity. The export prices of electricity increased by more than 50% and import prices increased by more than 60%”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.
The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.5% (99.6% in January). Significant positive value reached especially ‘other transport equipment’ (102.9%) and negative value reached ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (94.1%).
In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 99.9% (100.2% in January). Significant negative value reached ‘furniture’ (91.0%) and positive value reached ‘other transport equipment’ (107.4%).
