Month-on-Month Export and Import Prices Decreased

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices decreased by 1.1% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.6%). The prices decreased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘computer, electronic and optical products’, by 17.1%, 8.1% and 2.7%, respectively. The biggest increase was recorded in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’ and in ‘textiles’, by 4.0% and 0.7%, respectively.
In year-on-year comparison, export prices increased by 0.8% (after exchange rate adjustment by 1.6%). The biggest increase was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘products of agriculture, hunting and related services’ and in ‘basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations’, by 28.2%, 13.2% and 5.7%, respectively. Significantly, prices decreased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, by 18.1% and 5.3%, respectively.
Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices decreased by 1.1% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.4%). The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’, by 19.5%, 8.1% and 6.9%, respectively. The prices increased significantly in ‘motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers’, by 0.6%.
In year-on-year comparison, import prices increased by 0.7% (after exchange rate adjustment by 1.5%). The prices increased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘food products’ and in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’, by 32.5%, 7.1% and 3.8%, respectively. The prices decreased significantly in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘computer, electronic and optical products’, by 18.2% and 1.9%, respectively.
“In March the prices of international trade in goods were significantly affected by strengthening of the exchange rate of Czech Koruna to Euro and US Dollar. Export and import prices decreased month-on-month both by 1.1%. A significant month-on-month decrease was recorded in the prices of power, especially electricity and propellant”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.
The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.0% (100.5% in February). Significant positive value reached especially ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (102.9%) and negative value reached ‘motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers’ (98.8%).
In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.1% (99.9% in February). Significant positive value reached ‘other transport equipment’ (105.3%) and negative value reached ‘furniture’ (90.2%).
