Increase of Export and Import Fuel Prices Continued

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices increased by 0.8% (after exchange rate adjustment by 1.2%). The prices increased significantly in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘chemicals and chemical products’ and in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, by 17.3%, 9.0% and 2.8%, respectively. The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ and in ‘computer, electronic and optical products’, by 8.0% and 0.5%, respectively.
In year-on-year comparison, export prices decreased by 0.4% (after exchange rate adjustment increased by 2.2%). The prices decreased significantly in ‘food products’, ‘paper and paper products’ and in ‘other transport equipment’, by 8.0%, 7.2% and 5.3%, respectively. Significantly, prices increased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’, by 47.8% and 15.4%, respectively.
Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices increased by 2.7% (after exchange rate adjustment by 3.0%). Significantly, prices increased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘chemicals and chemical products’, by 22.8%, 11.6% and 8.0%, respectively. The prices decreased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ and in ‘other transport equipment’ by 4.5% and 1.3%, respectively.
In year-on-year comparison, import prices increased by 1.8% (after exchange rate adjustment by 4.4%). The prices increased significantly in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ’crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, by 70.6%, 16.8% and 15.1%, respectively. The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘wearing apparel’ and in ‘food products’, by 9.4% and 8.5%, respectively.
“In April, export and import prices were influenced by the year-on-year appreciation of the koruna exchange rate against the euro and the dollar and by the global oil prices. In month-on-month comparison, export and import prices increased by 0.8% and 2.7%, respectively. In year-on-year comparison, export prices decreased by 0.4% and import prices increased by 1.8%, respectively. In year-on-year comparison, the prices of ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ increased significantly in export by 47.8% and in import by 70.6%,” Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.
The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 98.2% (99.2% in March). Significant negative value reached ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ (95.5%) and positive value reached ‘furniture’ (101.5%).
In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 97.9% (100.2% in March). Significant negative value reached ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ (86.6%) and positive value reached ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (105.0%).
