Export and Import Prices Decreased

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices decreased by 0.3% (after exchange rate adjustment stayed the same). The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘food products’ and in ‘fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment’, by 2.0% and 1.8%, respectively. The biggest significant increase was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ and in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ by 6.0% and 2.9%, respectively.
In year-on-year comparison, export prices decreased by 4.7% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.5%). Significantly, prices decreased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘chemicals and chemical products’, by 19.4%, 11.1% and 9.7%, respectively. The prices increased significantly in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’ and in ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ by 12.7% and 5.5%, respectively.
Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices decreased by 0.1% (after exchange rate adjustment increased by 0.1%). Significantly, prices decreased in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘rubber and plastic products’ by 2.1% and 1.9%, respectively. The prices increased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ and in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ by 17.1% and 6.9%, respectively.
In year-on-year comparison, import prices decreased by 5.4% (after exchange rate adjustment by 1.3%). The prices decreased significantly in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’, ’electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ and in ‘wearing apparel’, by 26.3%, 10.0% and 8.1%, respectively. The prices increased in ‘furniture’ and in ‘motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers’, by 3.5% and 0.4%, respectively.
“In November, export and import prices were influenced by year-on-year appreciation of the exchange rate of the Czech koruna against the euro and the dollar. Year-on-year export prices decreased by 4.7% and import prices by 5.4%. Although import and export prices of electricity increased month-in-month, they decreased significantly year-on-year, by 19.4% and 10.0%, respectively,” Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.
The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 99.8% (100.4% in October). Significant negative value reached especially ‘electricity’ (90.5%) and positive value reached ‘rubber and plastic products’ (101.6%).
In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.7% (101.0% in October). Significant positive value reached ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (108.7%) and negative value reached ‘electricity’ (89.6%).
