Month-on-Month Export and Import Prices Decreased

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices decreased by 1.3% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.2%). The prices decreased significantly in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘computer, electronic and optical products’ and in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’, by 6.1%, 2.4% and 2.3%, respectively. The biggest increase was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’ and in ‘other manufactured goods’, by 6.9%, 1.3% and 1.2%, respectively.
In year-on-year comparison, export prices increased by 3.3% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.7%). The biggest increase was recorded in ‘furniture’, ‘other transport equipment’ and in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, by 15.9%, 10.8% and 9.5%, respectively. The prices decreased especially in ‘products of agriculture, hunting and related services’, ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’ and in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, by 8.9%, 8.7% and 4.4%, respectively.
Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices decreased by 1.4% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.1%). The prices decreased especially in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘other transport equipment’ and in ‘computer, electronic and optical products’, by 8.2%, 3.0% and 2.3%, respectively. The prices increased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ and in ‘wearing apparel’, by 9.6% and 1.0%, respectively.
In year-on-year comparison, import prices increased by 2.7% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.8%). The prices increased in ‘other transport equipment’, ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, by 12.1%, 12.0% and 8.0%, respectively. Significantly prices decreased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ and in ‘other manufactured goods’, by 13.1%, 4.1% and 2.7%, respectively.
“In May the prices of international trade in goods were significantly affected by the exchange rate of Czech Koruna. In month-on-month comparison the exchange rate of Czech Koruna to Euro and US Dollar increased, in year-on-year comparison decreased. In month-on-month comparison export prices decreased by 1.3% and import prices by 1.4%. In year-on-year comparison export prices increased by 3.3% and import prices by 2.7%”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.
The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.1% (100.4% in April). Significant positive value reached ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ (102.2%) and significant negative value reached ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (97.6%).
In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.5% (101.4% in April). Significant positive value reached ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (110.0%) and significant negative value reached ‘basic metals’ (95.2%).
