International Trade in Goods Price Indices - May 2025

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices decreased by 0.5% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.1%). The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, by 6.1%, 3.7% and 2.3%, respectively. The biggest increase was recorded in ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ and in ‘fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment’, by 2.0% and 0.6%, respectively.

In year-on-year comparison, export prices increased by 0.3% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.2%). The biggest increase was recorded in ‘products of agriculture, hunting and related services’, ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’, and in ‘food products’, by 13.6%, 9.5% and 4.6%, respectively. Significantly, prices decreased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’ and in ‘chemicals and chemical products’, by 20.7%, 5.2% and 4.6%, respectively.

Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices decreased by 0.7% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.3%). The prices decreased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, by 5.9%, 4.9% and 4.0%, respectively. The biggest increase was recorded in ‘motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers’, by 1.3%. Both ‘furniture’ and ‘rubber and plastic products’ increased by 0.5%.

In year-on-year comparison, import prices decreased by 0.1% (after exchange rate adjustment stayed the same). The prices decreased significantly in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘basic metals’, by 20.7%, 10.4% and 3.4%, respectively.  The prices increased in ‘food products’ and in ‘motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers’, by 10.0% and 6.3%, respectively.

“In May month-on-month export prices decreased by 0.5%, and import prices by 0.7%. Year-on-year export prices increased by 0.3%, and import prices decreased by 0.1%. Significantly decreased year-on-year prices in ‘refined petroleum products’”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.

The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.2% (100.6% in April). Significant positive value reached especially ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (102.4%) and negative value reached ‘rubber and plastic products’ (98.4%).

In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.4% (100.3% in April). Significant positive value reached ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (109.8%) and negative value reached ‘furniture’ (90.0%).
