Year-on-Year Import Fuel Prices Significantly Increased

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices stayed the same (after exchange rate adjustment stayed the same). The biggest increase was recorded in ‘textiles’, ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and ‘computer, electronic and optical products’ by 5.7%, 3.3% and 2.0%, respectively. The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ by 3.9% and in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’ by 3.8%.
In year-on-year comparison, export prices increased by 2.3% (after exchange rate adjustment by 3.5%). The prices increased significantly in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ and in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, by 34.3%, 14.9% and 11.6%, respectively. Significantly, prices decreased in ‘food products’ by 8.5% and in ‘furniture’ by 3.5%.
Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices increased by 0.5% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.4%). Significantly, prices increased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘leather and related products’ and in ‘other manufactured goods’, by 13.2%, 5.5% and 1.9%, respectively. The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ by 8.8% and in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ by 4.1%.
In year-on-year comparison, import prices increased by 4.6% (after exchange rate adjustment by 5.6%). The prices increased significantly in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ and in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ by 53.6%, 26.8% and 15.3%, respectively. The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘food products’ by 11.4% and in ‘wearing apparel’ by 3.9%.
“In July, year-on-year export and import prices increased by 2.3% and 4.6%, respectively. This increase was significantly tempered by the year-on-year appreciation of the koruna exchange rate against the euro. In year-on-year comparison, import fuel prices increased by more than 50%,” Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.
The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 99.5% (100.6% in June). Significant negative value reached ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ (91.3%) and positive value reached ‘electricity’ (106.2%).
In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 97.8% (98.3% in June). Significant negative value reached ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ (87.5%) and positive value reached ‘textiles’ (108.8%).
Change in the publication of News Releases from 2027
As of the reference period of January 2027, the Export and Import Price Indices (code 013014-26) will be published as part of the News Release on International Trade in Goods (including price development), code 241018-27. This relocation will enable an earlier release date of the data, while simultaneously allowing for the publication of related statistics at the same time. The first release in the new format will take place on 9 March 2027.
