Year-on-Year Export and Import Prices Decreased

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices stayed the same (after exchange rate adjustment stayed the same). The biggest increase was recorded in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’ and in ‘products of agriculture, hunting and related services’, by 7.4% and 1.6%, respectively. Significantly, prices of ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’ decreased by 2.6% and the prices decreased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ by 1.8%.
In year-on-year comparison, export prices decreased by 3.6% (after exchange rate adjustment increased by 0.1%). Significantly, prices decreased in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and ‘chemicals and chemical products’, by 13.5%, 11.9% and 8.5%, respectively. The biggest increase was recorded in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’, by 12.3% and the prices increased in ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ by 6.0%.
Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices decreased by 0.4% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.4%). The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’, by 5.1%, 3.5% and 2.7%, respectively. The prices increased in ‘wearing apparel’ and in ‘leather and related products’ by 2.8% and 1.4%, respectively.
In year-on-year comparison, import prices decreased by 4.5% (after exchange rate adjustment by 1.0%). The prices decreased significantly in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’, ’coke and refined petroleum products’ and in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, by 22.0%, 10.6% and 9.2%, respectively. The prices increased in ‘furniture’ and in ‘basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations’, by 3.0% and 1.1%, respectively.
“In October, month-on-month export prices stagnated and month-on-month import prices decreased by 0.4%. Year-on-year export prices decreased by 3.6% and import prices by 4.5%. The significant decrease of year-on-year import prices by more than 20% was recorded in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.
The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.4% (100.3% in September). Significant positive value reached especially ‘electricity’ (106.2%) and negative value reached ‘other transport equipment’ (97.7%).
In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 101.0% (100.6% in September). Significant positive value reached ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (109.0%) and negative value reached ‘furniture’ (92.5%).
