International Trade in Goods Price Indices - June 2024

Export prices
In month-on-month comparison, export prices stayed the same, even after exchange rate adjustment. The prices increased significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘products of agriculture, hunting and related services’ and in ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’, by 4.8%, 4.5% and 1.5%, respectively. Significantly prices decreased in ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’, ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, and in ‘computer, electronic and optical products’, by 1.6%, 0.7% and 0.6%, respectively.

In year-on-year comparison, export prices increased by 2.9% (after exchange rate adjustment decreased by 0.8%). The prices increased especially in ‘waste collection, treatment and disposal services’, ‘other transport equipment’ and in ‘furniture’, by 15.4%, 14.4% and 13.5%. Significantly prices decreased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘products of forestry, logging and related services’ and in ‘textiles’, by 7.3%, 4.2% and 2.5%, respectively.

Import prices
In month-on-month comparison, import prices increased by 0.1% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.1%). The prices increased especially in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘paper and paper products’ and in ‘textiles’, by 5.8%, 1.5% and 1.4%, respectively. The prices decreased in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, ‘wearing apparel’ and in ‘rubber and plastic products’, by 2.4%, 1.3% and 0.7%, respectively.

In year-on-year comparison, import prices increased by 2.9% (after exchange rate adjustment decreased by 0.4%). The prices increased in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’, ‘other transport equipment’, and in ‘coke and refined petroleum products’, by 16.8%, 11.5% and 5.8%, respectively. Significantly prices decreased in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’, ‘leather and related products’ and in ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’, by 15.7%, 3.0% and 2.8%, respectively.

“In June the month-on-month prices of international trade in goods almost didn´t change. In year-on-year comparison export and import prices both increased by 2.9%. Year-on-year weakening of the exchange rate of Czech Koruna to Euro and US Dollar had significant affect”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.

The terms of trade
In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 99.9% (100.1% in May). Significant negative value reached ‘paper and paper products’ (98.1%) and significant positive value reached ‘coke and refined petroleum products’ (101.7%).

In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 99.9% (100.5% in May). Significant negative value reached ‘textiles’ (95.6%) and significant positive value reached ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (109.9%).
