Pigmeat production began to fall

"The total meat production in the fourth quarter of 2025 increased due to higher production of poultrymeat. The downward trend in beef production continued, with a concurrent increase in prices of cattle for slaughter. The situation, however, changed for pigmeat. After almost two years of growth, pigmeat production began to decline in line with decreasing prices of pigs for slaughter. They reached a level of the beginning of 2022," Markéta Fiedlerová from Agricultural and Forestry Statistics Unit of the CZSO, said.
Meat production and milk collection
In total 17 799 tonnes of beef were produced at slaughterhouses in Q4 2025 (by 3.7% less, y−o−y). It represents 57.0 thous. head of slaughtered cattle (−5.5%). Slaughtering decreased in all categories, out of which the most important were bulls (by 6.9%) and cows (by 3.4%); at the same time, slaughter weight of these animals increased. Pigmeat production amounted to 55 142 tonnes, i.e. by 0.9% less, y-o-y. In total 581.5 thous. pigs were delivered to slaughterhouses (−2.4%); their slaughter weight was also higher. Slaughtering of sows increased by more than one fifth. Poultry slaughterhouses processed 29 767 thous. head of poultry, of which 28 431 thous. were chicken. Production of poultrymeat1) amounted to 46 876 tonnes (+11.3%, y-o-y). In total 817 061 thous. litres of milk (+7.1%) were purchased from domestic producers by first purchasers in Q4 2025, diaries bought 683 630 thous. litres (+3.5%).
Agricultural producer prices
Agricultural producer prices of cattle for slaughter went up by 39.8%, y-o-y, in Q4 2025 in all categories surveyed; prices of calves and cows for slaughter rose the most (+78.7% and +38.1%, respectively). For bulls for slaughter, farmers received on average 87.59 CZK per kg in live weight or 159.42 CZK per kg in carcass weight. Compared to Q3 2025, it was by 7.38 CZK per kg in carcass weight more. Prices of pigs for slaughter plummeted, y-o-y, by 13.3%. Their average price reached 33.06 CZK per kg in live weight or 42.97 CZK per kg in carcass weight, i.e. by 5.87 CZK per kg in carcass weight less than in Q3 2025. Prices of chicken for slaughter went up by 9.4%, y-o-y. Chicken for slaughter of the first quality class were sold on average for 30.83 CZK per kg in live weight. Agricultural producer prices of milk were by 10.3% higher, y-o-y. The average price of Q‑quality milk reached 13.35 CZK per litre.

1) From 2025 onwards, quarterly data on poultry meat production is available only for the following species: chickens (chicken, hens), ducks, and turkeys. In 2024, the share of meat from these species in total poultry production was 99.95%.
