Meat production rose again, poultrymeat production the most

"Meat production in the third quarter of 2025 increased, year-on-year. A decline in beef production and an increase in pigmeat and poultrymeat production confirmed the trends from previous quarters. Quarterly production of poultrymeat, which is growing in popularity among consumers, was the highest in ten years, and its share of total meat production has already exceeded 40 percent," Renata Vodičková, Head of the Agricultural and Forestry Statistics Unit of the CZSO, said.
Meat production and milk collection
In total 15 894 tonnes of beef were produced at slaughterhouses in Q3 2025, i.e. by 2.0% less, y-o-y. It represents 51.9 thous. head of slaughtered cattle (−3.0%). The number of slaughtered cows decreased (−3.2%) as well as the number of slaughtered bulls (−4.2%), while the number of slaughtered heifers increased (+1.1%). Pigmeat production amounted to 53 723 tonnes, i.e. by 3.1% more, y-o-y. In total 573.9 thous. pigs were delivered to slaughterhouses. Slaughtering of sows increased, y-o-y, by 14.2%. Poultry slaughterhouses processed 31 464 thous. head of poultry, of which 30 536 thous. were chicken and the rest were hens, ducks, and turkeys. Production of meat of these poultry species1 amounted to 48 232 tonnes (+11.3%, y-o-y). In total 825 435 thous. litres of milk (+5.1%) were purchased from domestic producers by first purchasers in Q3 2025, diaries bought 689 470 thous. litres (+1.5%).
Agricultural producer prices
Agricultural producer prices of cattle for slaughter went up by 38.9%, y-o-y, in Q3 2025 in all categories surveyed; prices of calves and cows for slaughter rose the most (+58.3% and +43.9%, respectively). Farmers received on average 83.54 CZK per kg in live weight or 152.04 CZK per kg in carcass weight for bulls for slaughter. Compared to Q2 2025, this price rose by 11.89 CZK per kg in carcass weight. Prices of pigs for slaughter decreased, y-o-y, by 5.4%. Their average price reached 37.57 CZK per kg in live weight or 48.84 CZK per kg in carcass weight, i.e. by 0.82 CZK per kg in carcass weight more than in Q2 2025. Prices of chicken for slaughter went up by 8.3%, y-o-y. Chicken for slaughter of the first quality class were sold on average for 30.07 CZK per kg in live weight. Agricultural producer prices of milk were by 19.7% higher, y-o-y. The average price of Q‑quality milk reached 13.40 CZK per litre.

1 From 2025 onwards, quarterly data on poultry meat production is available only for the following species: chickens (chicken, hens), ducks, and turkeys. In 2024, the share of meat from these species in total poultry production was 99.95%.
