Agriculture - October 2005

After a September decrease a meat production total (excl. poultry meat) went up by 0.4 % year-on-year in October 2005 due to an increase in pig meat production by 2.1 %. Beef production (incl. veal) decreased by 6.3 % year-on-year.

The average slaughter weight increased by 2.3 % to 595.7 kg for bulls, on the other hand the same weight of pigs for slaughter (excl. sows and boars) decreased by 0.6 % to 106.3 kg year-on-year.

Prices of agricultural producers rose up by 6.3 % for bulls for slaughter year-on-year, on the contrary the same prices went down significantly - by 12.5 % for pigs for slaughter.

Milk collection for dairies went down by 4.3 % year-on-year.

Since the beginning of the year meat production total (excl. poultry meat) has decreased by 12.5 % year-on-year due to both decreases in pigmeat and beef production (incl. veal) by 11.0 % and 18.3 %, respectively. A fall of indigenous meat production was compensated for meat imports.

The average slaughter weight went down by 0.1 % to 588.8 kg for bulls for slaughter year-on-year, in case of pigs for slaughter (excl. sows and boars) the weight fall by 1.8 % to 106.0 kg.

Prices of agricultural producers rose by 8.3 % for bulls for slaughter year-on-year, in case of pigs for slaughter the prices rose by 1.0 %.

Milk collected for dairies decreased by 0.1 % year-on-year.
