Meat production decreased year-on-year

It was produced 38 491 tons of meat (excl. poultry) in carcass weight in November 2005. This amount included 7 670 tons of beef and 30 793 tons of pigmeat. Meat production total went down by 3.1 % compared to the same month of the previous year. Milk collection for dairies decreased by 4.1 % year-on-year and accounted for 185 337 ths of litres.

Pigmeat production decreased by 2.4 % and beef production incl. veal went down by 5.6 % year-on-year.The average slaughter weight was increased by 4.3 % to 599.5 kg for bulls. On the other hand the weight of pigs for slaughter (excl. sows and boars) decreased by 0.8 % to 106.2 kg year-on-year.
Prices of agricultural producers rose up by 4.4 % for bulls for slaughter year-on-year, on the contrary the same prices went down by 10.7 % for pigs for slaughter.
Since the beginning of the year meat production total (excl. poultry meat) has decreased by 11.6 % year-on-year due to both decreases in pigmeat and beef production (incl. veal) by 10.2 % and 17.2 %, respectively. A fall of indigenous meat production was compensated for meat imports.
The average slaughter weight went up by 0.5 % to 589.9 kg for bulls for slaughter year-on-year, in case of pigs for slaughter (excl. sows and boars) the weight fall by 1.7 % to 106.0 kg.
Prices of agricultural producers have risen by 7.7 % for bulls for slaughter year-on-year, in case of pigs for slaughter the prices have decreased by 1.0 %.
Milk collected for dairies decreased by 0.4 % year-on-year.
