Y-o-y considerable meat production continued to decrease

Meat production total (excl. poultry meat) went down 22.6 % in March year-on-year due to both decreases in pigmeat and beef production (incl. veal) by 21.6 % and 27.1 %, respectively.
The average slaughter weight decreased 1.2 % to 583.7 kg for bulls and for pigs for slaughter (excl. sows and boars) went down 3.4 % to 106.1 kg year-on-year.
Prices of agricultural producers rose up 9.8 % for bulls for slaughter year-on-year and for pigs for slaughter by 19.0 %.
Milk collection for dairies went down 1.0 % year-on-year.
In the first quarter of 2005 meat production total (excl. poultry meat) decreased 19.8 % year-on-year due to both decreases in pigmeat and beef production (incl. veal) by 18.8 % and 23.9 %, respectively. A considerable fall in meat production was compensated for a significant increase in imports. Beef imports increased more than four times and pigmeat imports went up 1.6 times y-o-y in the first two months of the year.
The average slaughter weight went down 0.1 % to 583.6 kg for bulls for slaughter year-on-year, in case of pigs for slaughter (excl. sows and boars) the weight fall by 4.0 % to 106.5 kg.
Prices of agricultural producers rose by 9.0 % for bulls for slaughter year-on-year, in case of pigs for slaughter the same prices rose by 30.2 %.
Milk collected for dairies decreased 1.3 % year-on-year.
