Pigmeat and beef production decline continued

Meat production total (excl. poultry meat) went down 19.1 % in July year-on-year due to both decrease in pigmeat and beef production (incl. veal) by 19.7 % and 16.8 %, respectively. Such a considerable decrease was influenced not only by the difference in number of working days in July (y-o-y difference: + 3 days in 2003) but also by continually declining numbers of livestock.
The average slaughter weight increased 0.2 % to 596.2 kg for bulls whereas fell by 1.7 % to 105.2 kg for pigs for slaughter (excl. sows and boars) year-on-year.
Prices of agricultural producers rose by 3.6 % for bulls for slaughter year-on-year and for pigs for slaughter by 26.2 %.
Milk collection for dairies decreased 0.8 % in July year-on-year.
Since the beginning of the year meat production total (excl. poultry meat) has gone down 5.7 % year-on-year due to both decrease in pigmeat and beef production (incl. veal) by 5.2 % and 7.8 %, respectively.
The average slaughter weight has decreased by 0.6 % to 588.5 kg for bulls for slaughter year-on-year; on the other hand the same weight of pigs for slaughter (excl. sows and boars) has grown 0.3 % to 109.0 kg.
Prices of agricultural producers have risen by 1.2 % for bulls for slaughter year-on-year since the beginning of the year and by 5.8 % for pigs for slaughter.
Milk collected for dairies has decreased 2.6 % year-on-year since the beginning of the year.
