Summer season returned to black numbers

In the Q3 2025, 7.9 million guests arrived in collective accommodation establishments in the Q3 2025. They spent 21.2 million nights there. Year-on-year, the number of arrivals increased by 1.4% and the number of overnight stays of guests in collective accommodation establishments increased by 1.0%.

The number of overnight stays of guests in collective accommodation establishments reached 21.2 million nights in total in the Q3 2025 and compared to the corresponding period of 2024 it increased by 1.0%. Residents spent in collective tourist accommodation establishments in Czechia 13.2 million nights, which was a year-on-year decrease by 0.4%. On the other hand, non-residents spent there 8 million nights and the number of overnight stays of foreign guests increased by 3.4%.

“In the third quarter of 2025, 7.9 million guests arrived in collective accommodation establishments, which was a year-on-year increase in the number of guests by 1.4%. Arrivals of residents, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, stagnated. As for non-residents, by 3.3% more of them accommodated,” Roman Mikula, Head of the Tourism and Environmental Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), stated.

In the Q3 2025, in total, 4.8 million guests accommodated in hotels in Czechia; they spent there 11.5 million nights. In the summer season, 2.1 million residents accommodated in those establishments, which was an increase by 3.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 2.7 million guests from abroad accommodated in hotels in Czechia and arrivals of non-residents increased by 2.7%, year-on-year. As for boarding houses, 1.1 million guests in total arrived in them; in the year-on-year comparison, it was an increase by 4.5%. In this type of accommodation, non-residents only made one fifth of guests and, in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year, arrivals of foreign guests increased by 9.7%. The number of domestic guests who accommodated in boarding houses also increased, namely by 3.4%. Arrivals in tourist campsites in the summer season decreased by 10.9%, year-on-year, and the number of overnight stays there decreased by 8.2%. Holiday dwellings and hostels recorded in the Q3 2025 an increase in both the number of guests as well as the number of overnight stays.  

As for Regions, the total number of arrivals in collective accommodation establishments decreased in the Královéhradecký Region, in the Vysočina Region, in the Jihočeský Region, in the Středočeský Region, and in the Ústecký Region, whereas other Regions recorded an increase. The highest year-on-year increase in the number of arrivals was reported in the Olomoucký Region, in the Karlovarský Region, in the Zlínský Region, and in the Moravskoslezský Region. The highest number of arrivals of domestic guests was recorded in the Jihočeský Region (580 thousand guests) and in the Jihomoravský Region (570 thousand guests). Foreign guests, as usual, accommodated most often in Prague. In the capital city of Prague, 1.9 million non-residents accommodated. Almost 280 thousand foreign guests stayed overnight in the Jihomoravský Region, too.

The number of foreign guests (non-residents; by citizenship) who accommodated in collective accommodation establishments increased by 3.3%, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In total, 3.3 million of non-residents accommodated in Czechia. One fifth of foreign guests arrived from Germany (660 thousand). The second in order were guests from Poland, the number of whom was 340 thousand, and guests from Slovakia ranked third (290 thousand of arrivals). As for non-European countries, the biggest number of guests came to Czechia from the United States of America, of whom 190 thousand acommodated in the CR. Foreign guests in total spent in accommodation establishments in Czechia 8 million nights, which was by 3.4% more compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Germans spent there 1.8 million nights, guests from Poland 650 thousand nights, and non-residents from Slovakia 620 thousand nights.
