Number of guests in collective accommodation establishments increased also in spring months

The number of overnight stays of guests in collective accommodation establishments reached 15 million nights in total in the Q2 2025 and compared to the corresponding period of the previous year it increased by 6.9%. Residents spent 8 million nights in the establishments in Czechia, which was a year-on-year increase by 5.3%. Guests from abroad spent 7 million nights in collective accommodation establishments in Czechia and the number of nights spent by non-residents increased by 8.8%, year-on-year.
“In the surveyed period, 6.3 million guests in total arrived in collective accommodation establishments. The number of arrivals increased by 5.6%, year-on-year, and was supported by an increased number of guests from Czechia as well as from abroad. In surveyed establishments, 3.4 million residents accommodated and 3 million guests were from abroad,” Roman Mikula, Head of the Tourism and Environmental Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), stated.
A hotel-type accommodation, in which 70% of all guests accommodated, recorded an increase in the number of guests by 4.1%, y-o-y. Arrivals of residents increased by 3.7% and of non residents by 4.4%. In total, 4.4 million guests arrived in hotels, of which over a half (2.5 million of guests) were from abroad. The number of overnight stays in hotels increased by 6.1%, y-o-y, to the total of 10 million nights. Guests from Czechia spent there 4 million nights and those from abroad even 6 million nights. Boarding houses recorded in the Q2 2025 an increase in the number of both guests and nights spent, both the same by 5.6%. By 6.8% more guests, year-on-year, came to tourist campsites; they spent there by 11.5% more nights. Holiday dwellings and hostels for tourists also recorded an increase in both the number of arrivals and nights spent.
In terms of comparison of Regions, in the Q2 2025, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the total number of both arrivals and overnight stays increased in all Regions. The highest increase in the number of guests was recorded in the Ústecký Region and in the Olomoucký Region. The number of domestic guests (residents) increased in all Regions, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Guests from Czechia accommodated most often in collective accommodation establishments in the Jihomoravský Region and Prague. The number of arrivals of non-residents only decreased in the Moravskoslezský Region, in other Regions it increased. The highest number of tourists from abroad accommodated, as usual, in Prague and further in the Jihomoravský Region and in the Karlovarský Region. The total number of overnight stays in collective accommodation establishments in Czechia also increased in all Regions. The most significant increase was recorded in the Ústecký Region and in the Pardubický Region. Domestic guests spent in Czechia more nights in all Regions, year-on-year, and foreign clientele reported a decrease just in the Moravskoslezský Region and in the Vysočina Region.
Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, by 6.2% more foreign guests (non-residents; by citizenship) accommodated in collective accommodation establishments in the Q2 2025. 665 thousand guests from Germany accommodated in Czechia; 269 thousand were from Slovakia and the third most numerous group were guests from Poland, the number of whom was 259 thousand. The highest y-o-y increase in the number of arrivals from the Top 10 countries was reported by Slovakia (by 12.0%), Great Britain and Northern Ireland (by 11.2%), and Austria (by 8.6%). Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the number of overnight stays of non-residents increased by 8.8%; foreign tourists spent 7 million nights in total in Czechia. The highest year-on-year increment in the number of nights was recorded in non-residents from Slovakia, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and from Israel.
