Rates of employment, unemployment and economic activity - August 2013

The employment rate (the share of the employed persons in the age group 15-64 years, as percentage), seasonally adjusted, reached 67.6 % in August 2013 and increased by 0.8 percent point (p.p.) compared to that in August 2012. The male employment rate was 75.6 %; the female employment rate was 59.4 %. The employment rate of persons aged 15-29 years, seasonally adjusted, was 43.7 %, in the age group 30-49 years it attained 84.7 %, and in the age group 50-64years it got to 61.1 %.

The general unemployment rate of the aged 15-64 years (the share of the unemployed in the labour force, that is in the total number of the employed and the unemployed, as percentage), seasonally adjusted, reached 7.0 % in July 2013 and decreased by 0.1 p.p., year-on-year. The male unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, attained 5.8 %; the female employment rate was 8.5 %.

The economic activity rate of the aged 15-64 years (the share of the number of the employed and the unemployed in the total number of person of this age group, as percentage), seasonally adjusted, reached 72.6 % and rose by 0.8 p.p. compared to that in August 2012. Following the seasonal adjustment, the male economic activity rate (80.3 %) exceeds the female economic activity rate by 15.4 p.p.

Today, Eurostat is to publish the comparable monthly unemployment rate within its news release. Data for the Czech Republic are based on monthly data from the Labour Force Sample Survey (LFSS).

The News Release includes time series of basic indicators of the labour market, consistent in terms of methodology, back to 1998.
