Business cycle surveys - February 2022

Confidence in the economy continued to grow in February

Product Code: 070008-22

The composite confidence indicator (economic sentiment indicator) – in the basis index form – increased by 1.6 percentage points to 99.2, m-o-m, with both components increasing. Business confidence indicator increased by 1.9 percentage points to 100.7, the consumer confidence indicator increased by 0.3 percentage points to 91.7.

The month-on-month growth in economic sentiment among entrepreneurs was mainly due to an increase in confidence in selected service sectors, where the share of entrepreneurs expecting an increase in demand for services in the next three months increased significantly. Confidence also rose more markedly in construction, rising slightly in industry and declining in trade compared with January.

The slight increase in consumer confidence in February is mainly due to a decline in the number of households expecting a deterioration in the overall economic situation in the Czech Republic over the next twelve months.
