The average nominal wage increased by 6.5% in 2006

In Q4 2006, the average gross monthly nominal wage was CZK 21 952, which is by 6.2% higher year-on-year, real wage grew by 4.6%. In the business sphere, the average wage rose by 6.7%, in the non-business sphere by 4.4%.
In 2006, the average wage increased by 6.5% and reached CZK 20 211, real wage rose by 3.9%.

In Q4 2006, the seasonally adjusted average gross monthly nominal wage per actual person was 1.6% up on Q3 2006.
The average gross monthly nominal wage (hereinafter referred to as the ‘average wage’ only) amounted to CZK 21 952, and was higher by CZK 1 283 (6.2%) than in the corresponding period of 2005. Consumer prices in Q4 2006 compared to the same period of 2005 rose by 1.5%, with the real wage rising by 4.6%, which is the biggest increase since Q1 2004. The average wage rose by CZK 1 390 (6.7%) to CZK 22 021 in the business sphere, with the real wage rising by 5.1%. In the non-business sphere, the average wage rose by CZK 912 (4.4%) to CZK 21 712, with the real wage rising by 2.9%.
In Q4 2006, wage differences between industries increased compared to the corresponding period of 2005. The variation coefficient of average wages (by CZ-NACE division) grew by 0.9 percentage point to 34.3%.
The lowest relative growth of nominal wages was recorded in the following kinds of activities (CZ-NACE sections): fishing (+2.3%), public administration and defence, compulsory social security (+2.9%), and hotels and restaurants (+4.0%); the highest growth occurred in mining and quarrying (+8.9%), construction (+8.4%), and electricity, gas and water supply (+7.9%). The highest nominal wage (financial intermediation) was roughly 2.7 times higher than the lowest nominal wage (hotels and restaurants).
Evan greater difference is apparent in average wages according to the institutional sector. In the long term, the highest average nominal wages are reached in the financial institutions sector (CZK 39 502 in Q4 2006). The lowest wages (CZK 13 148) were recorded in the households sector (i.e. wages of employees employed by unincorporated natural persons).
In 2006, the average gross monthly nominal wage reached CZK 20 211, rising by CZK 1 226 (+6.5%) year-on-year. Consumer prices rose by 2.5% and the real wage by 3.9% in the same period. The business sphere saw its average wage grow by CZK 1 287 (+6.8%) to CZK 20 333, with the real wage rising by 4.2%. In the non-business sphere, the average wage went up by CZK 1 009 (+5.4%) to CZK 19 784 and an increase of 2.8% was recorded for the real wage.
