Average nominal wage increased by 6.1% in Q3 2006 year-on-year

In Q3 2006, the average gross monthly nominal wage was CZK 19 968, which is by 6.1% higher year-on-year, real wage grew by 3.1%. In the business sphere, the average wage rose by 6.2%, in the non-business sphere by 5.4%.
In Q1 to Q3 2006, the average wage increased by 6.6% and reached CZK 19 635, real wage rose by 3.6%.

In Q3 2006, the seasonally adjusted average gross monthly nominal wage per actual person was 1.5% up on Q2 2006.
The average gross monthly nominal wage (hereinafter referred to as the ‘average wage’ only) amounted to CZK 19 968, and was higher by CZK 1 139 (6.1%) than in the corresponding period of 2005. Consumer prices in Q3 2006 compared to the same period of 2005 rose by 2.9%, with the real wage rising by 3.1%. Average wage rose by CZK 1 180 (6.2%) to CZK 20 104 in the business sphere, with the real wage rising by 3.2%. In the non-business sphere, the average wage rose by CZK 991 (5.4%) to CZK 19 484, with the real wage rising by 2.4%.
In Q3 2006, wage differences between industries increased compared to the corresponding period of 2005. The variation coefficient of average wages (by CZ-NACE division) grew by 1.9 percentage point to 35.1%.
The lowest relative growth of nominal wages was recorded in the following kinds of activities (CZ-NACE sections): transport, storage and communications (+3.4%), public administration and defence, compulsory social security (+5.0%), and other community, social and personal service activities (+5.3%). The highest relative growth occurred in health and social work and veterinary activities (+8.6%), fishing (+7.4%), and electricity, gas and water supply (+7.3%). The highest nominal wage (financial intermediation) was roughly 2.5 times higher than the lowest nominal wage (hotels and restaurants).
Evan greater difference is apparent in average wages according to the institutional sector. In the long term, the highest average nominal wages are reached in the financial institutions sector (CZK 36 076 in Q3 2006). The lowest wages (CZK 12 557) were recorded in the households sector (i.e. wages of employees employed by unincorporated natural persons).
In Q1 to Q3 2006, the average wage reached CZK 19 635, rising by CZK 1 215 (+6.6%) year-on-year. Consumer prices rose by 2.9% and the real wage by 3.6% in the same period. The business sphere saw its average wage grow by CZK 1 265 (+6.8%) to CZK 19 780, with the real wage rising by 3.8%. In the non-business sphere, the average wage went up by CZK 1 038 (+5.7%) to CZK 19 130 and an increase of 2.7% was recorded for the real wage.
