Average wage grew by more than CZK 1 200 year-on-year

In Q1 2006, the average gross monthly nominal wage was CZK 18 903, which is 6.9% higher year-on-year, real wage grew by 4.0%. In the business sphere average wage rose by 7.2%, in the non-business sphere by 6.0%.

In Q1 2006, the seasonally adjusted average gross monthly wage per actual person was 1.7% up on Q4 2005 (nominal terms).
The average gross monthly nominal wage (hereinafter referred to as the ‘average wage’ only) amounted to CZK 18 903, and was higher by CZK 1 222 (6.9%) than in the corresponding period of 2005. Consumer prices in Q1 2006 compared to the same period of 2005 rose by 2.8%, with the real wage rising by 4.0%. Average wage rose by CZK 1 275 (7.2%) to CZK 19 051 in the business sphere, with the real wage rising by 4.3%. In the non-business sphere, the average wage rose by CZK 1 035 (6.0%) to CZK 18 390, with the real wage rising by 3.1%.
In Q1 2006, wage differences between industries remained almost the same compared to the corresponding period in 2005. The variation coefficient of average wages (by CZ-NACE division) grew by 0.1 percentage point to 39.7%.
The lowest relative growth of nominal wages was recorded in the following kinds of activities (CZ-NACE sections): wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles, motorcycles and personal household goods (+3.6%), and public administration and defence, compulsory social security (+5.5%). The highest relative growth occurred in fishing (+10.6%), health and social work and veterinary activities (+10.5%) and in transport storage and communication (+10.1%). The highest nominal wage (financial intermediation) was 3.5 times higher than the lowest nominal wage (agriculture, hunting and forestry).
Evan greater difference is apparent in average wages according to the institutional sector. In the long term the highest average nominal wages are reached in the financial institutions sector (CZK 44 286 in Q1 2006). The lowest wages (CZK 11 327) were recorded in the households sector (i.e. wages of employees employed by unincorporated natural persons).
