Harvest Forecast - July 2009

Based on the second estimate of yields performed as at 15 July 2009 the Czech Statistical Office supposes that the harvest of basic cereals reach the amount of 6 717 thous. tonnes of grain. Matching the June´s estimate it means an increase by 95 thous. tonnes (+1,4 %). An estimated production of rape reaches 1000 thous. tonnes, it is up by 0.4 % matching June´s estimate. Data shows that in spite of unsteady weather and delayed harvest losses would be just local and crop would be ordinary.
Estimated harvest of main cereals is in amount of 6 717 thous. tonnes. It is by 780 thous. tonnes down (- 10,4 % ) matching final results of the year 2008. Area under cultivation of main cereals diminished by 0.5 % on amount of 1 428 thous. ha. Yield would be at the level of 4.71 t/ha, it is down by 9.8 % in comparison with 2008.

Wheat total is supposed harvest in amount of 4 173 thous. tonnes (of which winter wheat would be 4 024 thous. tonnes), it means by 9,9 % less matching last year. Barley total is supposed harvest down by 10,7 % in amount of 2 003 thous. tonnes (of which spring barley harvest would be 1 375 thous. tonnes and it is. by 13,2 % less than in the last year). The yield of winter wheat is estimated at the level of 5,07 t/ha (5,88 t/ha in 2008), the yield of spring barley would be 4,30 t/ha (4,64 t/ha in 2008), the harvest of rye would reach 4,15 t/ha (4,83 t/ha in 2008). The biggest decrease of the crop is supposed by rye, it´s estimated havest would be 160 thous. tonnes and it is by 23,9 % down matching the year 2008.

Production of rape is estimated in amount of 1 000 thous. tonnes with supposed yield 2,82 t/ha (2,94 t/ha in 2008), it is by 48 thous. tonnes (- 4,6 %) less than in the last year. Estimated production of poppy is 38 thous. tonnes matching production of the year 2008 which was 49 thous.tonnes. The decrease was influenced by limitation of sowing areas by 16 thous. ha (- 23,2 %) , first of all. Yield decrease is gentle at the level of 0,70 t/ha ( 0,71 t/ha in the year 2008).
In spite of production of estimated crops is supposed down matching the year 2008 data in following table verify that this harvest would be average from view point of long-time period.
