GDP Preliminary Estimate - 2. quarter of 2025

The gross domestic product (GDP) adjusted for price effects and seasonally adjusted[1] increased in the Q2 2025, according to the preliminary estimate, by 0.2% compared to the previous quarter. When compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, it increased by 2.4%.

The quarter-on-quarter GDP growth was mainly supported by final consumption expenditure of households, which increased already for the fourth successive quarter. On the other hand, the international trade balance had a negative influence.

“In the year-on-year comparison, the economy grew with the same growth rate as in the first quarter. The year-on-year GDP growth by 2.4% was supported by the domestic demand, especially by final consumption expenditure of households and gross capital formation,” Vladimír Kermiet, Director of the National Accounts Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), informed.

The quarter-on-quarter growth of the gross value added (GVA) was positively influenced mainly by a group of economic activities of trade, transportation, and accommodation and food service activities. Construction was also successful. On the other hand, manufacturing slightly decreased.

The year-on-year growth of the GVA was supported the most by industry and a group of economic activities of trade, transportation, and accommodation and food service activities.
An absolute majority of economic activities of the national economy were successful.

Employment[2] increased by 0.4%, quarter-on-quarter; compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, it increased by 1.0%.
