GDP Preliminary Estimate - 2nd quarter of 2026

The gross domestic product (GDP) adjusted for price effects and seasonally^[1] adjusted increased in the Q2 2026, according to the preliminary estimate, by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter. When compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, it increased by 2.0%. 

The quarter-on-quarter GDP growth was positively influenced by increasing final consumption expenditure and international trade balance. Gross capital formation had a negative influence.

“The year-on-year growth of GDP by 2.0% was mainly supported by higher final consumption expenditure of households and the increasing external demand,” Vladimír Kermiet, Director of the National Accounts Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), informed.

The development of the gross value added (GVA) in the quarter-on-quarter comparison was positively influenced especially by industry. Most of economic activities of services were also successful. The following contributed the most to the year-on-year growth of the GVA: industry, a group of economic activities of trade, transportation, accommodation and food service activities, and information and communication.

Employment^[2] increased by 0.2%, quarter-on-quarter; compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, it increased by 0.9%.
