ICT in households and ICT users

Households equipped with the Internet, smartphones and computers contribute to the digital literacy of the population and are also an important indicator of how willing people are to participate in the digital society and whether they have sufficient financial resources to do so. While all households of people from the younger and middle generation, with exceptions, have internet at home, only six in ten of the households of the elderly is connected to the internet. In the Czech Republic, 7.6 million people over the age of 16 used the Internet in 2024, which was 88 % of the population of this age. The most common activities carried out by people on the Internet include using e-mail, reading online news, using Internet banking or shopping.
