Structural business statistics – Reports on quality

EU Member States provide the Commission (Eurostat) with reports on the quality of data transmitted on the base of Article 12 – Statistical quality of the Regulation (EC) 223/2009 on European statistics (which was amended by Regulation (EU) 2015/759).

Structural business statistics

Starting with reference year 2021, structural business statistics data are provided on the basis of Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 on European business statistics (EBS regulation), and implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 laying down technical specifications and arrangements (Genera Implementing Act). Prior to 2020, SBS was governed by Regulation (EC) 295/2008 on structural business statistics, in the version applicable as of 31. 12. 2020.

Foreign affiliates statistics (FATS)

Methodology of foreign affiliates statistics

Inward FATS describes the activity of foreign affiliates resident in the compiling country. Requirements for IFATS are defined in the European Business Statistics (EBS) Regulation  (EU) 2019/2152 and the EBS Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 under Table 14.

Outward foreign affiliates statistics (OFATS) describes the activity of foreign affiliates abroad ultimately controlled by an institutional unit resident in the compiling country. Requirements for OFATS are defined in the European Business Statistics (EBS) Regulation  (EU) 2019/2152 and the EBS Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 under Table 15 and 33.

Global value chains (GVC) statistiscs

GVC data are produced on the basis of Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 on European business statistics (EBS regulation), and implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/918 laying down technical specifications of data requirements for the topic Global Value Chains.
