Register of Collective Accommodation Establishments (RUZ) - Methodology

The register of accommodation establishments is kept at the CZSO for the purposes of surveys in collective accommodation establishments. The results of this survey are used retrospectively to update this register. The register serves only for statistical purposes and contains an up-to-date and historical overview of collective accommodation establishments (CAE) in the Czech Republic. Other accommodation establishments (so-called individual) are not included. Each CAE is assigned a unique identification code called pagina.  

The Czech Statistical Office provides users with a map application where they can get an overview of collective accommodation establishments in the Czech Republic. Users can search for the exact location of collective accommodation establishments in the map application and view their basic statistical data. Classification is available by category of individual facilities, number of rooms, beds or seasonality of operation. The map will be updated at semi-annual intervals (in May and November) or in the event of significant changes in its structure.

In addition to the map application, a map dashboard of CAE  is also available for users. It also offers the possibility of obtaining clear summary statistics for CAE of a given category, capacity or type of operation either in the Czech Republic or in a selected area. The data in the map dashboard can be filtered by districts, regions and tourism areas with a destination management organization (DMO).

At the same time, since the publication of the list, the CZSO promises feedback in the form of supplementing missing, e. g. newly established accommodation establishments or entering information on a change of operator for existing establishments. Additional information can be entered in the form at https://forms.office.com/e/J04aavNL3d.  

Due to the protection of individual data in the sense of the Act on the State Statistical Service, the capacity of accommodation establishments (number of rooms, beds and places for tents and caravans) is stated in intervals. 

The list since April 2021 also includes establishments that have been suspended for a long time, for example due to reconstruction, sale or temporary accommodation for employment. These establishments are expected to resume operation after the expiration of the suspension period.

The number of establishments in the different versions of the update can be significantly different due to the creation of new establishments or the elimination of those already inactive in tourism.
