R&D in the government and higher education sector

In the government and higher education sector, a total of almost 51 CZK billion was spent on research and development (R&D) in 2024. The higher education sector accounted for 28.2 billion CZK and the government sector 22.4 billion CZK. These two sectors accounted for 34% of the total expenditure on R&D. 13.7 thousand persons (full-time equivalent) were employed in R&D in the government sector and in the higher education sector there were 20.8 thousand employees. In the higher education sector, 40% of R&D workers were females, in the case of the government sector it was 49%.
