Voters elected new councillors and five senators

189,896 candidates fought to win 61,695 council seats in 6,389 local councils in total. The turnout reached 48.00%; in the local council elections in 2022, 46.07% of voters cast their votes.
The highest turnout was recorded in the municipality of Martinice u Onšova in the Pelhřimov District, in which 97.67% of voters came to vote. The lowest turnout, 20.88%, was in the municipality of Zaječí in the Břeclav District.
The average age of the elected councillors is 48.21 years; the oldest elected councillor is 92 years old. There are 26 eighteen-year-old councillors nationwide. The absolutely youngest council was elected in the municipality of Županovice in the Jindřichův Hradec District; the average age of councillors there is 31 years. On the other hand, the municipality with the highest average age of elected councillors is Řeřichy in the Rakovník District with the average age of 68.43 years. 70% of men and 30% of women will sit in the newly elected councils. Purely female councils are in 6 municipalities, male-only councils are in 365 municipalities.
“Processing of results of local council elections demands extreme effort from members of electoral ward commissions as well as employees of the Czech Statistical Office and it is the most demanding of all types of elections. I would like to thank all who participated in the preparation as well as successful progress of the elections,” Eva Krumpová, First Vice President of the Czech Statistical Office, says.
In the elections to the Senate, 154 candidates ran for 27 seats – 120 men and 34 women. “In the first round, 5 senators were elected and the historic high from the year 2024 was thus matched. In the whole history of senatorial elections, 27 senators were elected right in the first round so far,” Eva Krumpová, First Vice President of the Czech Statistical Office, notes.
The following have been elected: Jan Grolich in Vyškov winning 63.34% of votes, Jan Grulich in Rychnov nad Kněžnou winning 62.19% of votes, Jan Sobotka in Trutnov with 58.42% of votes, Tomáš Fiala in Strakonice winning 55.41% of votes, and Zbyněk Linhart in Děčín with 52.22% of votes.
The smallest gap between the candidates before the second round of the senatorial elections is in the 63 Přerov electoral district and it is 369 votes.
The last electoral ward was processed on Sunday morning at 7:01 a.m. On Monday morning, the voting results will be negotiated by the State Electoral Committee and after their approval they will be published in the Collection of Laws of the Czech Republic. The second round of the elections to the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic will be held on 16 and 17 October 2026.
