Number of foreigners, demographic events

According to provisional data as at 31 December 2025, the Directorate of the Foreign Police Service recorded 1,131,197 foreigners, 37,108 more than a year earlier. More than half (54%, 612,953 persons) of all foreigners were Ukrainian citizens, 11% were Slovak citizens (125,280 persons), 6% were Vietnamese citizens (69,685 persons), and 3% were Russian citizens (37,524 persons). More than one third of foreigners (35%, 394,265 persons) resided in Czechia on the basis of a permanent residence permit (or a permanent type of residence of persons granted asylum). The remaining 65 % (736,932 persons) of all foreigners resided in Czechia on a temporary basis. EU nationals accounted for 21% of all foreigners (235,699 persons).
