In 2024, a total of 1,363 new applications for the granting of international protection were registered in the Czech Republic. The highest number of applications was received from citizens of Uzbekistan (224), Ukraine (205), and Viet Nam (186). International protection in the form of asylum was granted to 54 persons, and in the form of subsidiary protection to 149 persons. As at 31 December 2024, there were 1,356 people living in the Czech Republic who had been granted asylum (mostly citizens of Myanmar, the Russian Federation, and Afghanistan), and another 1,158 persons held valid subsidiary protection (mostly citizens of Ukraine, Syria, and Afghanistan).
