In total, 1 427 applications for granting of international protection were registered in the Czech Republic in 2023. The highest number of applications was received from citizens of Türkiye (213), Uzbekistan and Viet Nam (both 136) and Ukraine (129). International protection in the form of asylum  was granted in 56 cases. International protection in the form of subsidiary protection was granted in 266 cases. As at 31 December 2023, 1 256 persons were enjoying asylum status (mostly citizens of Myanmar, Afghanistan, and the Russian Federation) and 1 227 persons were enjoying subsidiary protection status (mostly citizens of Ukraine, Syrian Arab Republic, and Afghanistan).
