European Statistics Code of Practice
The European Statistics Code of Practice is the cornerstone of a common quality framework for the European Statistical System. It is a self-regulatory instrument based on sixteen principles relating to the institutional environment, statistical processes and statistical outputs. For each of the principles, a set of indicators of best practice and standards has been developed to provide guidance and reference for reviewing the implementation of the Code thus, helping to increase transparency in the European Statistical System.
The statistical authorities, which include Eurostat, the National Statistical Institutes (NSI) and other national authorities responsible for the development, production and dissemination of European statistics, have committed themselves to comply with the Code.
