Educational personnel and their wages

In September 2023, pedagogical staff in nursery, primary, and secondary schools in Czechia were employed on 184.3 thousand full-time equivalents, of which 157.0 thousand were teachers. There were 35.1 thousand teachers in nursery schools, 75.0 thousand in primary schools, and 44.0 thousand in secondary schools. The average gross monthly salary of teachers was 40.5 thousand CZK in nursery schools, 51.2 thousand CZK in primary schools, and 52.3 thousand CZK in secondary schools. The number of teaching assistants continues to grow. In 2023, there were 25.2 thousand teaching assistants in schools in Czechia, and their average gross monthly salary was 32.9 thousand CZK. Concerning public and private universities in Czechia, there was 19.8 thousand academic staff, half of them were lecturers.
