Educational personnel and their wages

In September 2024, teachers from preschool to higher vocational schools in Czechia held the equivalent of 159.5 thous. full-time equivalent (FTE) positions. Additionally, other pedagogical staff accounted for 29.4 thous. FTE positions. In preschools, teaching staff held 35.5 thous. FTE positions; in primary schools, 75.6 thous. FTE positions; and in secondary schools, 45.4 thous. FTE positions.
The average gross monthly salary of preschool teachers amounted to CZK 41.7 thous., while primary school teachers earned an average of CZK 52.6 thous., and secondary school teachers CZK 55.2 thous. The number of teaching assistants has continued to rise. In 2024, Czech schools employed 27.1 thous. teaching assistants, with an average gross monthly salary of CZK 31.1 thous. At public and private universities across Czechia, 19.9 thous. academic staff were engaged in teaching, with lecturers comprising approximately half of this workforce.
