Educational personnel and their wages

In September 2025, teachers from preschool to higher vocational schools in Czechia held the equivalent of 161.9 thous. full-time equivalent (FTE) positions. Additionally, other pedagogical staff accounted for 32.1 thous. FTE positions. In preschools, teaching staff held 35.7 thous. FTE positions; in primary schools, 76.7 thous. FTE positions; and in secondary schools, 46.4 thous. FTE positions.
The average gross monthly salary of preschool teachers amounted to CZK 43.7 thous., while primary school teachers earned an average of CZK 55.3 thous., and secondary school teachers CZK 58.4 thous. The number of teaching assistants has continued to rise. In 2025, Czech schools employed 29.5 thous. teaching assistants, with an average gross monthly salary of CZK 33.5 thous. At public and private universities across Czechia, 20.1 thous. academic staff were engaged in teaching, with lecturers comprising approximately half of this workforce.
