According to the second estimate of this year’s harvests as at 15 July, a considerable decrease in the production of both basic cereals and rape seed is confirmed. The production of basic cereals is to reach 6 392 thous. tonnes, which is by 16.9% less than last year and by 13.1% less in comparison with the five-year average. Lower production is expected as for winter common wheat, both spring and winter barley, oats, and rye, whereas larger harvests are expected as for spring common wheat and triticale. Estimated production of rape seed in the amount of 808 thous. tonnes is by 20.9% lower, year-on-year, and when compared to the five-year average it is a decrease by 26.1%. Estimated poppy production in the amount of 28 thous. tonnes is by 5.1% lower, year-on-year.
