Crop production

In 2024, farmers utilised 3 535 thousand hectares of agricultural area, of which 71% was arable land, 27% permanent grassland, and 1% hop-gardens, vineyards and orchards. Compared to the previous year, less cereals (−5.9%), oilseeds (−24.6%), pulses for grain (−13.1%), hops (−7.2%), grapes (−10,0%), fruit (-58,3%) and vegetables (−9,2 %) were harvested. On the other hand, potato (+14.2%) and sugar beet (+19.6%) harvests were higher. Harvest of fodder crops was comparable to the previous period (+0.6%).
