Women and men in decision-making processes

The share of women in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic is gradually increasing, in the elections in October 2025, women were represented one third of the elected deputies. The share of women among elected regional representatives also increased, in the October 2020 elections it was 22%, but it decreased slightly to 21% in 2024. A higher proportion of women occupy the local councils of municipalities, small towns and towns - in the elections in September 2022 it reached almost 29%. In all mentioned types of elections, the success rate of women's election (the proportion of elected to candidates) was lower compared to men. However in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies in October 2025, the success rate of female candidates was 4.8% and that of male candidates was 4.3%.
