Graph 1

Year-on-year, with seasonal and calendar adjustments (there was one working day more in Q2 2008 compared to the previous year) the sales increased by 0.5 %, with only calendar adjustment by 0.3%. Not seasonally adjusted sales increased y-o-y by 0.5% which was the smallest growth from Q4 2005 except for Q1 2008.
The growth came mainly from enterprises in 'supporting and auxiliary transport activities' (+1.9 p.p.) where mainly sales from auxiliary business activities of some enterprises grew. Compared to the growth recorded in previous four quarters a slow-down of growth showed also in supporting and auxiliary activities (approximately by 5 p.p.) Other transport divisions save for air transport recorded a drop of sales. Sales in 'transport via railways' fell most over the last 12 quarters (-6.1%) while the drop was affected by lower output in passenger and freight transport. Sales in the most important branch of transport from the aspect of contribution to total sales - 'other land transport' - dropped by 2.7% which resulted into a negative contribution to the growth in transport by 1.1 p.p. in total (Table 2a).
Post and telecommunications :
Seasonally adjusted sales in 'post and telecommunications' dropped by 1.3% quarter-on-quarter at constant prices. The trend component for the corresponding period decreased by 0.8% while the average over the previous four quarters grew by 0.7% (Table 3b).
Graph 2

Year-on-year, with seasonal and calendar adjustments, sales increased by 1.1%, without adjustment by 0.9%. The total growth was contributed to by 'telecommunications' by 1.6 p.p., while 'post and courier activities' dropped by 7.3% and slowed down the sales growth in communications by 0.7 p.p. in total (see Table 2b). In 'telecommunications' the continuous growth went on from the beginning of data collection, i.e. from 1997, however, the dynamics of growth compared with the average for the previous four quarters decreased by almost 3 p.p.
* * *
