Producer price indices - 3. quarter of 2008

Agricultural producer prices were down by 11.5% in comparison to Q2 2008. Prices of crop products dropped by 16.7% and prices of animal products by 3.8%. Price decreases were recorded for fruit (-30.1%), cereals (-21.5%) and oil plants (-14.5%). Potato prices grew by 5.8%.
In animal products, a downward price trend was observed for milk (-10.8%), eggs (-8.4%), poultry (-2.8%) and cattle (-0.8%). Pig prices grew by 10.5%.
Year-on-year, agricultural producer prices grew by 7.3% (+27.3% in Q2 2008). Prices of crop products increased by 10.8% and prices of animal products by 3.2%. Crop product prices were influenced by price increases in oil plants (+34.2%, rape, poppy) and cereals (+9.9%, barley, maize). Prices of potatoes (-18,9%), vegetables (-16,7%) and fruit (-10,6%) decreased. Prices of animal products grew due to prices of milk (+3.4%), poultry (+6.8%) and pigs (+3.1%). Cattle prices dropped by 1.6%.

Industrial producer prices were up by 1.2% in comparison to Q2 2008. The most rapid price increase (+6.7%) was observed for ‘basic metals and fabricated metal products‘ (+3.8% in Q2 2008). Prices of ‘food products, beverages and tobacco‘ grew by 0.9%. The sharpest price slowdown was recorded for ‘coke, refined petroleum products‘ (from 12.8% to 0.1%).

Year-on-year, industrial producer prices grew by 5.5% (+5.1% in Q2 2008). The highest price rises were observed for ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+22.9%), ‘coal and lignite; peat; crude petroleum’ (+20.5%), ‘basic metals and fabricated metal products‘ (+8.5%) and ‘food products, beverages and tobacco‘ (+7.4%). Prices of ‘transport equipment‘ (-6.7%), ‘wood and products of wood and cork’ (-4.9%) and ‘rubber and plastic products’ (-2.9%) decreased.

Construction work prices grew by 1.0% in comparison to Q2 2008 and so did construction material input prices.
Year-on-year, construction work prices were up by 4.7% (+4.9% in Q2 2008) and construction material input prices grew by 2.3% (+2.5% in Q2 2008).

Market services prices dropped by 0.9% in comparison to Q2 2008 due to a 1.5% price decrease in ‘real estate, renting and business services’.
Year-on-year, market services prices rose by 3.8% in total (+4.0% in Q2 2008). The overall price level was affected by prices of real estate, renting and business services which grew by 5.2% (+5.7% in Q2 2008). Within this CZ-CPA section, prices of ‘advertising services’ grew by 7.4%. Prices of freight transport and storage increased by 1.3% and prices of post and telecommunication services by 1.8% (prices of ‘postal services’ rose by 25.4% and prices of ‘Internet access provision services‘ dropped by 8.1%). A price decrease was recorded in insurance and pension funding services (-1.7%).
