Agricultural producer prices grew by 5.4% in Q1 2008 compared to Q4 2007. Prices of crop products rose by 7.8% and prices of animal products by 2.4%. Increases were recorded for the prices of cereals (+6.4%), oil plants (+18.9%), potatoes (+11.7%) and vegetables (+8.0%). Prices of fruit were lower by 10.0%.
Among animal products the prices of milk (+7.9%) and eggs (+1.5%) grew most. Prices of pigs (-7.4%) and cattle (-0.4%) for slaughter decreased.
Year-on-year, agricultural producer prices were by 26.7% higher in Q1 2008 (+26.1% in Q4 2007). The growth was affected by crop product prices which were up by 35.5%; animal product prices grew by 16.3%. Higher crop product prices were mainly due to the prices of cereals (+59.3%). Price increases were registered for oil plants (+53.3%) and fruit (+31.7%, apples). Lower were the prices of potatoes (-40.1%) and vegetables (-9.6%). The price increase of animal products was affected by higher prices of milk (+28.9%), eggs (+25.9%) and poultry (+20.5%). The prices of pigs (-3.4%) and cattle (-2.8%) for slaughter decreased.


Industrial producer prices grew by 2.2% in Q1 2008 in comparison to Q4 2007. The highest price increases were observed in ‘coal and lignite; peat; crude petroleum’ (+13.8%) and ‘food products’ (+2.3%); the rate of growth of food product prices was, nevertheless, slower in comparison to Q4 2007. Prices decreased the most in ‘transport equipment’ (-1.6%), ‘rubber and plastic products’ (-1.1%) and ‘basic metals and fabricated metal products’ (-0.7%).


Year-on-year, industrial producer prices grew by 5.6% in Q1 2008 (+5.0% in Q4 2007). The highest price increases were recorded for ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+28.8%), ‘coal and lignite; peat; crude petroleum’ (+18.9%), ‘food products’ (+11.0%) and ‘electrical energy, gas, steam and water‘ (+9.4%). On the decrease were the prices of ‘transport equipment‘ (-3.7%), ‘rubber and plastic products’ (-2.0%), ‘wood and products of wood and cork’ (-1.9%; for the first time since Q4 2001) and ‘textiles and textile products’ (-0.4%).

Construction work prices grew by 1.4% in Q1 2008 in comparison to Q4 2007; construction material input prices increased by 0.4%.
Year-on-year, construction work prices were higher by 4.7% in Q1 2008 (+4.4% in Q4 2007); construction material input prices grew by 3.0% (+4.1% in Q4 2007).
Prices of market services grew by 1.8% in Q1 2008 compared to Q4 2007. Prices of ‘real estate, renting and business services’ were up by 1.9% and prices of ‘post and telecommunication services’ by 2.5%.
Year-on-year increase in prices of market services reached 3.3% in total in Q1 2008 (+1.8% in Q4 2007). The overall price level was mainly affected by prices of real estate, renting and business services which were up by 4.7% (+2.7% in Q4 2007). Within this CZ-CPA section, especially the prices of ‘advertising services’ (+13.5%) grew. Prices of transport, storage and communication services increased by 2.3% and prices of post and telecommunication services by 1.7% (prices of postal services up). Prices of insurance and pension funding services were lower by 2.0%.
