In June 2005, seasonally adjusted industrial production was by 1.1% up month-on-month. The trend grew by 0.5% month-on-month (Table 5).

The year-on-year industrial production index reached 103.7%. Sales in industry at constant prices (the year 2000) rose by 8.5%. The y-o-y indices were influenced by the high reference basis of June 2004.
Industrial production increased most in the following CZ-NACE activities:
- ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (work of productive nature in the manufacture of motor vehicles; motor vehicles with ignition engine)
- ‘manufacture of machinery and equipment’ (parts of air conditioning machines; vertical machining centres for working metal)
- ‘manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products’ (diesel oil for road motor vehicles; motor gasoline, unleaded).
The largest decreases in industrial production were recorded for:
- ‘manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products’ (iron, steel and ferro-alloys; tubes and pipes)
- ‘manufacture of textiles and textile products’ (yarn of uncombed cotton; women’s or girls´ blouses, shirts and shirt-blouses)
- ‘manufacture of wood and wood products’ (spruce and fir wood, plywood consisting solely of sheets of wood)
The industrial production rose in all the main industrial groupings, most in ‘consumer durables’ (+10.9%), ‘energy’ (+9.1%), ‘capital goods’ (+3.4%), ‘consumer non-durables’ (+3.4%) and ‘intermediate goods’ (+1.6%).
The high growth in ‘manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products‘ (+27.2%), ’manufacture of transport equipment’ (+23.2%), ‘manufacturing n.e.c.’ (+13.7%) and ‘manufacture of machinery and equipment’ (+13.0%) contributed to the increase of total sales in the industry.
Direct export sales of industrial enterprises rose by 9.5% at constant prices (+7.2% at current prices), and their proportion in total sales of industrial enterprises stood at 49.7% (current prices). The biggest increases in direct export sales at constant prices were recorded for ‘mining and quarrying except energy producing materials’ (+43.1%), ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (+21.4%), ‘manufacture of pulp, paper and paper products; publishing and printing’ (+21.3%), and ‘manufacturing n.e.c.’ (+19.6%). On the other hand, direct export sales dropped in ‘manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ (-6.7%), ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’ (-5.4%) and ‘manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products’ (-3.4%).
Industrial foreign-controlled enterprises raised their sales by 15.1% at constant prices (+12.5% at current prices), and their proportion in total sales stood at 55.8% (current prices). Their direct export sales increased by 11.3% at constant prices (+7.8% at current prices) and accounted for 72.8% of the total sales of these enterprises.
The average number of employees in the industry went up by 0.7% (+8.0 thousand persons) year-on-year. Year-on-year, the employment increased in ‘manufacture of transport equipment’, ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’, ‘manufacture of wood and wood products’, and ‘manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products’; it decreased most in ‘manufacture of textiles and textile products’, ‘electricity, gas and water supply’ and ‘mining and quarrying except energy producing materials’.
The average monthly nominal wage amounted to CZK 18 500, rising by 5.0% year-on-year. The average hourly wage increased by 5.2% and reached CZK 124.50. Labour productivity (sales per employee) increased by 7.7% and productivity per hour by 5.4%. Unit wage costs were 2.5% down.
New orders in industrial enterprises in selected CZ-NACE activities were worth CZK 132.0 billion (current prices), of which non-domestic orders accounted for CZK 87.7 billion. The year-on-year index of new orders in total was 114.3%, of which the index of new non-domestic orders was 120.9%. The value of the new non-domestic orders increased most in ‘manufacturing of other transport equipment’ (index 200.0%), ‘manufacture of medical, precision and optical instruments, watches and clocks‘ (index 182.6%), ‘manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment and apparatus’ (index 159.6%), and ‘manufacture of motor vehicles’ (index 132.5%). The volume of new non-domestic orders dropped most in ‘manufacturing of office machinery and computers’ (index 64.0%), ‘manufacturing of wearing apparel; dressing and dyeing of fur‘ (index 83.1%) and ‘manufacture of pulp, paper and paper products’ (index 96.5%).
