In July 2005, seasonally adjusted industrial production was by 3.5% up month-on-month. The trend grew by 1.2% month-on-month (Table 5).

The year-on-year industrial production index reached 111.2% or 113,7% (working days adjusted, WDA; there was one less working day in July 2005 compared to July 2004). Sales in industry at constant prices (the year 2000) rose by 6.8% or 9,3% (WDA).
Industrial production increased most in the following CZ-NACE activities:
- ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (motor vehicles with spark-ignition engine, self-propelled railway or tramway coaches)
- ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’ (rubber hose reinforced with textiles, rubber-to-metal bonded articles for tractors and motor vehicles)
- ‘manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products’ (refinery feedstock, derv fuel).
The largest decreases in industrial production were recorded for:
- ‘manufacture of textiles and textile products’ (yarn of uncombed cotton, tyre cord fabrics)
- ‘mining and quarrying of energy producing materials’ (coal, services incidental to coal mining)
- ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’ (luggage and handbags, sports footwear with other soles and uppers of rubber or plastic (excluding waterproof ski-boots)
The industrial production rose in all the main industrial groupings, most in ‘energy’ (+48.0%), ‘consumer durables’ (+6.8%), ‘intermediate goods’ (+5.1%), ‘consumer non-durables’ (+4.9%) and ‘capital goods’ (+2.9%).
The high growth in ’manufacture of transport equipment’ (+19.3%), ‘manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products‘ (+18.3%), ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’ (+16.0%) and ‘manufacture of textiles and textile products’ (+15.3%) contributed to the increase of total sales in the industry.
Direct export sales of industrial enterprises rose by 8.1% at constant prices (+5.0% at current prices), and their proportion in total sales of industrial enterprises stood at 48.3% (current prices). The biggest increases in direct export sales at constant prices were recorded for ‘mining and quarrying except energy producing materials’ (+41.4%), ‘manufacture of wood and wood products’ (+27.2%), ‘manufacture of chemicals, chemical products’ (+21.5%). The direct export sales dropped in ‘mining and quarrying of energy producing materials’ (-9.5%), ‘manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ (-8.9%) and ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’ (-8.7%).
Industrial foreign-controlled enterprises raised their sales by 13.0% at constant prices (+9.8% at current prices), and their proportion in total sales stood at 54.2% (current prices). Their direct export sales increased by 8.6% at constant prices (+4.4% at current prices) and accounted for 71.4% of the total sales of these enterprises at current prices.
The average number of employees in the industry went up by 0.6% (+7.1 thousand persons) year-on-year. Year-on-year, the employment increased in ‘manufacture of transport equipment’, ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’ and ‘manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products’; it decreased most in ‘manufacture of textiles and textile products’, ‘electricity, gas and water supply’ and ‘mining and quarrying except energy producing materials’.
The average monthly nominal wage amounted to CZK 18 216, rising by 3.0% year-on-year. The average hourly wage increased by 8.4% to stand at CZK 155.60. Labour productivity (sales per employee) increased by 6.1% and productivity per hour by 11.7%. Unit wage costs were 2.9% down.
New orders in industrial enterprises in selected CZ-NACE activities were worth CZK 102.0 billion (current prices), of which non-domestic orders accounted for CZK 65.1 billion. The year-on-year index of new orders in total was 100.5%, of which the index of new non-domestic orders was 101.7%. The value of new non-domestic orders increased most in ‘manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment and apparatus’ (index 130.5%), ‘manufacture of chemicals and chemical products’ (index 124.2%) and ‘manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment‘ (index 121.0%). The volume of new non-domestic orders dropped most in ‘manufacturing of office machinery and computers’ (index 57.2%), ‘manufacturing of medical, precision and optical instruments, watches and clocks‘ (index 60.0%) and ‘manufacturing of other transport equipment’ (index 79.2%).
