Graph Month-on-month change in trend and seasonally adjusted (SA) data Industrial production

The year-on-year industrial production index reached 107.2%. Sales in industry at constant prices (the year 2000) were higher by 9.4%.

The industrial production increased most in the following CZ-NACE activities:
- ‘manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products’ (diesel oil, refinery feedstock)
- ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’ (rubber hose reinforced with textiles, plastic shutters; blinds and similar articles, plastic parts)
- ‘mining and quarrying, except of energy producing materials’ (sandstone, granite)
- ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (motor vehicles, gear boxes).

The highest decreases in the industrial production were recorded for:
- ‘manufacture of wood and wood products’ (prefabricated buildings of wood, oak wood, beech wood)
- ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’ (waterproof footwear, leather)
- ‘electricity, gas and water supply’ (electricity, steam and hot water)

As for the main industrial groupings, the highest increases in production were recorded for ‘intermediate goods’ (+17.5%) and ‘consumer durables’ (+2.6%), while production of ‘consumer non-durables’ and ‘energy’ decreased (-1.8% and -0.8%, respectively).

High growth of ‘manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ (+27.2%), ‘mining and quarrying, except of energy producing materials’ (+25.8%), ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (+24.2%), and ‘manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products’ (+14.9%) contributed to the growth of total sales in industry.

Direct export sales of industrial enterprises rose by 18.8% at constant prices (+17.5% at current prices), and their share in total sales of industrial enterprises stood at 49.8% (current prices). The highest constant price increases in direct export sales were recorded for, ‘mining and quarrying, except of energy producing materials’ (+68.4%), ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (+32.8%) and ‘manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ (+29.3%). Direct export sales dropped most in ‘electricity, gas and water supply’ (-52.1%), ‘manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products’ (-13.8%) and ‘manufacture of wood and wood products’ (-7.9%).

Industrial foreign-controlled enterprises raised their sales by 15.7% at constant prices (+15.3% at current prices), and their share in total sales stood at 52.2% (current prices). Direct export sales of these enterprises increased by 17.9% at current prices (+20.4% at constant prices) and accounted for 72.5% of their total sales.

The average number of employees in the industry went up by 0.9% (+10.3 thousand persons) year-on-year. The employment increased in ‘manufacture of transport equipment’, ‘manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ and ‘manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products’ and fell most in ‘mining and quarrying, except of energy producing materials’, ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’, and ‘manufacture of textile and textile products’.

The average monthly nominal wage amounted to CZK 17 033, rising by 3.5% year-on-year. The average hourly wage increased by 1.2% and stood at CZK 116.30. Labour productivity (sales per employee) was 8.4% up and productivity per hour grew by 5.9%. Unit wage costs were 4.5% down.

New orders in industrial enterprises in selected CZ-NACE activities were worth CZK 102.4 billion (current prices), of which non-domestic orders accounted for CZK 70.0 billion. The year-on-year index of new orders in total was 103.4%, of which the one of new non-domestic orders was 112.0%. The highest volumes of new non-domestic orders were signed in ‘manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment and apparatus’ (index 194.6%), ‘manufacture of other transport equipment’ (191.1%) and ‘manufacture of office machinery and computers’ (136.2%). The volume of new non-domestic orders decreased most in ‘manufacture of medical, precision and optical instruments, watches and clocks’ (index 54.0%), ‘manufacture of basic metal‘ (index 76.1%) and ‘manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment‘ (index 77.6%).
