Graph Industrial production Month-on-month change in trend and seasonally adjusted (SA) data

The year-on-year industrial production index reached 105.6%. Sales in industry at constant prices (the year 2000) were higher by 5.8%.

The industrial production increased most in the following CZ-NACE activities:
- ‘manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products’ (diesel oil, lubricating oils)
- ‘manufacture of machinery and equipment’ (parts of steam turbines, new agricultural and forestry tractors)
- ‘manufacture of chemicals, chemical products’ (insecticides, pharmaceutical products).

The highest decreases in the industrial production were recorded for:
- ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’ (chamois leather, sports footwear with outer soles of rubber or plastic excluding waterproof footwear and ski-boots)
- ‘manufacture of wood and wood products’ (oak and beech wood, cases, boxes, crates and similar packing of wood)
- ‘mining and quarrying of energy producing materials’ (coal, lignite)

As for the main industrial groupings, the highest increases in production were recorded for ‘intermediate goods’ (+12.8%), ‘consumer non-durables’ (+3.1%) and ‘energy’ (+1.4%), while production of ‘consumer durables’ decreased (-13.5%).

High growth of ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (+18.9%), ‘manufacture of machinery and equipment’ (+12.5%) and ‘manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ (+9.8%) contributed to the growth of total sales in industry.

Direct export sales of industrial enterprises rose by 10.6% at constant prices (+8.4% at current prices), and their share in total sales of industrial enterprises stood at 46.3% (current prices). The highest constant price increases in direct export sales were recorded for ‘mining and quarrying’ (+31.3%), ‘manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco’ (+26.2%), ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (+20.6%) and ‘manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ (+19.3%). Direct export sales dropped most in ‘electricity, gas and water supply’ (-44.4%), ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’ (-22.9%) and ‘manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products’ (-9.2%).

Industrial foreign-controlled enterprises raised their sales by 10.6% at constant prices (+10.2% at current prices), and their share in total sales stood at 53.9% (current prices). Direct export sales of these enterprises increased by 9.6% at current prices (+13.0% at constant prices) and accounted for 74.0% of their total sales.

The average number of employees in the industry went up by 1.1% (+12.6 thousand persons) year-on-year. The employment increased in ‘manufacture of transport equipment’, ‘manufacture of electrical and optical equipment’ and ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’ and fell most in ‘mining and quarrying, except of energy producing materials’, ‘manufacture of leather and leather products’, and ‘manufacture of textiles and textile products’.

The average monthly nominal wage amounted to CZK 16 301, rising by 4.0% year-on-year. The average hourly wage increased by 6.8% and stood at CZK 121.00. Labour productivity (sales per employee) was 4.6% up and productivity per hour grew by 7.4%. Unit wage costs were 0.6% down.

New orders in industrial enterprises in selected CZ-NACE activities were worth CZK 96.0 billion (current prices), of which non-domestic orders accounted for CZK 63.6 billion. The year-on-year index of new orders in total was 103.5%, of which the one of new non-domestic orders was 112.1%. The highest volumes of new non-domestic orders were signed in ‘manufacture of office machinery and computers’ (139.0%), ‘manufacture of other transport equipment’ (132.7%) and ‘manufacture of electrical machinery and apparatus’ (index 122.7%). The volume of new non-domestic orders decreased most in ‘manufacture of wearing apparel, dressing and dyeing of fur’ (index 91.5%) and ‘manufacture of textiles‘ (index 99.8%).
