In December 2005, seasonally adjusted industrial production was up by 0.2% month-on-month. Industrial production increased by 7.1% year-on-year. Sales in industry at constant prices (the year 2000) rose by 8.4%. The value of new orders was up by 10.1% year-on-year. The year-on-year industrial production index in 2005 reached 105.7%.

In December 2005, seasonally adjusted industrial production was up by 0.2% month-on-month. The trend grew by 0.7% (Table 5).

The year-on-year industrial production index reached 107.1% or 108.4% (working days adjusted, WDA). There was one working day less in December 2005 compared to December 2004. Sales in industry at constant prices (the year 2000) rose by 8.4% or 10.7% (WDA).
Industrial production increased most in the following CZ-NACE activities:
- manufacture of transport equipment (+26.1%)
- manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (+16.3%)
- manufacturing n.e.c. (+16.1%).
The largest decreases in industrial production were recorded for:
- mining and quarrying, except of energy producing materials (-8.0%)
- manufacture of leather and leather products (-4.8%)
- manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (-3.8%)
In December 2005, the industrial production rose in all the main industrial groupings: in ‘intermediate goods’ (+11.8%), ‘consumer durables’ (+10.0%), ‘capital goods’ (+5.1%), ‘consumer non-durables’ (+4.1%) and ‘energy’ (+1.0%).
High growth in ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ (+20.0%), ‘manufacture of machinery and equipment’ (+11.7%) and ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’ (+10.3%) contributed to the increase of total sales in industry.
Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at constant prices (+6.7%) as well as in current prices (+4.0%); their proportion sales in total sales of industrial enterprises stood at 44.1%.
Sales of industrial foreign-controlled enterprises were up by 13.6% at constant prices (+10.7% at current prices), and their proportion in total sales stood at 52.1% (current prices). Their direct export sales increased by 5.7% at constant prices (+2.3% at current prices) and accounted for 71.1% of the total sales of these enterprises at current prices.
The average number of employees in the industry went up by 0.2% (+2.2 thousand persons) year-on-year. Year-on-year, it increased in ‘manufacture of rubber and plastic products’, ‘manufacture of transport equipment’ and ‘manufacture of chemicals and chemical products’; it decreased most in ‘electricity, gas and water supply’, ‘manufacture of textiles and textile products’ and ‘mining and quarrying, except of energy producing materials’.
The average monthly nominal wage rose by 3.7% year-on-year and amounted to CZK 19 629. The average hourly wage increased by 5.7% and was CZK 160.6. Labour productivity (sales per employee) increased by 8.2% and productivity per hour by 10.3%. Unit wage costs were down by 4.2%.
New orders in industrial enterprises in selected CZ-NACE activities were worth CZK 121.1 billion (current prices), of which non-domestic orders accounted for CZK 74.7 billion. The year-on-year index of new orders in total was 110.1%, of which the one of new non-domestic orders was 113.2%. The value of new non-domestic orders increased most in ‘manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment and apparatus’ (index 214.1%), ‘manufacture of other transport equipment‘ (index 201.1%) and ‘manufacture of fabricated metal products, except of machinery and equipment’ (index 145.5%). New non-domestic orders dropped in ‘manufacture of basic metals‘ (index 97.6%) and ‘manufacture of textiles‘ (index 99.6%).

The year-on-year industrial production index reached 105.7% in the year 2005. Sales in industry at constant prices (the year 2000) were higher by 8.1% in the year 2005. New orders made in 2005 amounted to CZK 1,445.5 billion. Their value increased by 7.3% in comparison to 2004.
